This looks like the type of ship you'd plow into a planets surface crushing a small city and then using your ships main structure for a base of operations. Like a deployable city.

That's kind of what I'm going for. Minus the crashing into planets.  I'll crush cities with orbital bombardment! >:D

Besides, this ship will be fairly easy to maneuver with it's even distribution of mass.  :)  Spin to face the threat, it would loose the advantage of its shield if it landed.

Added armoured hangars for the interceptors.   Yes or no?

Very much yes! Still keeps them close to the surface and high deployability (they just need to detach from the clamps and scoot, rather than accelerating through a lengthy launch tunnel), but still keeps 'em much more protected.

And it looks cooler than a random fighter hanging off the side of the ship by some cables, too. :P

Wow, this looks awesome. I love Sunshine, the movie and Icarus, made a ship in its style myself after I got the editor working. However, you got something different going on here, which is great. Keep up the good work!
