3D File Repository
« on: February 07, 2012, 01:04:08 pm »
I would like to create here a repository for 3D files so that we might share and compare our ships in a manner that allows certain freedoms over the current BR builds, namely that loading SH and SN at the same time won't crash your game.

Guidelines:
- Please post files that are at a 1:1 scale if possible so that we can have a homogeneous scale to compare ships.
- State if a model is in-game now or just hypothetical.

If you haven't tried Google SketchUp, do it! It's far simpler to use than most 3D modelers and it's free.

Attached:

1) SketchUp File: Burgundy, 400m, Currently in-game without plating

2) Sketchup File: Event Horizon, 800m, Theoretical only

yeah that will happen if you stare at blockade runner to hard well it loads a ship. I notced it happens alot more oftine if i load a ship into the outpoast beta slot since its spinning.  sounds like an awesome idea to have even just blue prints or sketchup database.
would you buy a toaster shaped like an f22 with an eject button on it? cause thats what i'm going for.

do you by any chance have access to a lot of fancy features in Skp? cause that render looks amazing for Skp, and those angles in non-modified pro version would be a pain to do (not impossible though)

did you use plugins and if so what?

well the fancy angles are in fact vanilla google sketchup 7, just selec loads of faces, right click, and select "soften / smooth edges". as for the rendering engine, its podium, not the gretest, but i know the bloke who helped develop it, so he gave me a good deal. as for not on sketchp, i have about 5 rows of plugins which make sketchup almost as powerful as some other 3d modeling programmes (like Rhino or solid works).

but if you want to get into sketchup 8, I 100% reccomend OSCoolean. the diffeerence between sketchup 8 and 8 pro is boolean functions, but OSCoolean is a free boolean function plugin for sketchup 8, and its very useful.
