Update V: Complete!

Finally finished the blasted thing: My escort carrier build: The Reconciliation (designation EC-1)
Check it out, and let me know what you think. Always looking for good input.

Additional pics:
Front:
Starboard:
Armament:

Point-Defense: 6 quad-missile turrets and 10 dual-missile turrets.
Anti-fighter: 12 light plasma turrets.
Dual-Purpose: 12 medium plasma turrets
Anti-Capital: 1 medium missile bay and 1 heavy missile bay.

Power Projection Capability:

Forward bay: 1 shuttle-craft and 2 interceptors.
Main bay: 6 fighters, 3 bombers, and 2 medium dropships.
Staging area: Room for up to 10 light attack vehicles or 5 medium attack vehicles with complement of Marines. (access to dropships via main lift)

Other info: (accessible areas)

Bridge, forward bay, main bay, staging area, cargo area, flight operations center, flight crew quarters, command crew quarters, Marine berthing area (quarters), recreational center, forward engineering bay, rear engineering bay, upper fire control center, lower fire control center, and many, many more little rooms...

Width: 64m
Length: 220m
Height: 41m
Mass: 719,576.5
Decks: 8

BRD: (zipped and attached:)

Update IV: Releasing the BRD. Still a work in  progress. Exterior complete, interior still needs work. Approximately 40% of interior complete. I've been fighting with viruses for about two weeks on this computer, not going to risk losing it. Have fun, and be sure to tell me what you think needs improvement.

Update III: Had to tweak the fighter bay a bit. I extended the fighter sheath (recently coined) by thirty or more blocks and made a single bay door to accommodate, larger, carrier-borne ships. Plating and final interior design not finished. Right now the fighter bay is in it's "bare bones" stage with the exception of the aft cargo lift. All markings and pad designations are subject to change depending on what fighter load-out I go with. Right now i'm looking at 6 fighters, 5 interceptors (2 in forward bay), 2 shuttle/dropships, and 3 bombers/attack craft.

The extended sheath. Top view.
Fighter bay door. Exterior view.
Fighter bay interior. Bare bones. Aft cargo lift visible in bottom left of pic.

Update II: Exterior complete: Finally finished the exterior. It will be tweaked as more parts become available.

Update: Took some advice and re-worked the exterior. Much more appealing look. (In my opinion.) Certainly easier to distinguish different parts of the ship.

Hey guys, this submission is still a work in progress. Found BR through RPS and haven't stopped.

Dimensions/Role:

EC-1 (until the ship is named) is currently 216m long, 62m wide, and 40m high. Weighing in at just over 400,000. (tons?) I'm about  3/4 of the way complete with the exterior of the ship and about 1/4 of the way on interiors. As the name would suggest this ship is intended to maintain 3-4 squadrons of fighters (3 per squadron) and 3 support/utility craft. (likely a dropship with escorts.) The ship is intended to fill a support role during fleet engagements, though it is capable of line duty with light capital ships as escorts.

Layout:

EC-1 is six decks high with an additional two decks on the top and bottom used for weapons control. (between the turrets pictured near the front, topside.) The ship has two main fighter bays and an additional bay for the launching and retrieval of shuttles and dropships. The latter is located aft of the bridge on the same deck.  The quarters and rec center for the aircrew (for lack of better term.) are completed. They fill most of the space underneath the flight deck. Looking from the top: the flight deck is located to starboard and the refueling station to port.

Armor/Armamaent:

EC-1 has dual layered heavy plating around the entire perimiter of the ship. It is three layers thick in key areas. (bridge, weapons control.) This was accomplished using a shell-like method. Using spaces between the walls (with supports) in order to have multiple heavy plates oriented towards enemy fire. (Example: wall crawlspace wall) The crawlspace created in between the shells of armor will allow for easy integration of critical systems once they are implemented into the game. (plenty of room to run power, life support, or any other utility throughout the ship.)
EC-1 is currently armed with six anti-ship missile batteries and ten dual plasma turrets. I plan to double that number by replicating the turret network on top of the ship on the bottom as well. There are also various spaces carved out for torpedoes and missiles as implemented.

Lots of work to be done, let me know what you think. And input would be appreciated!

Looks nice although I'd suggest using an outer layer of normal plating rather than heavy plating as it allows for the outside to be a little less bland (as you can use light plating for lighter details & heavy plating for darker details) while the inner plating acts as the actual armour. also is slightly lighter.

Thanks! I may well give it a go when some different modding tools become available. At present, "repainting" it is a bit of a daunting task. It definitely needs some more definition, color-wise.

Took some of your advice. I think it's shaping up rather nicely. Still needs a good bit of work. Thanks again.

Much Prettier, Atm its only really viable to use plating as an asthetic thing, (Hopefully that won't be the case for too long)  ::)

Thanks! It's been quite a bit of fun to build. I'm looking forward to completing and designing more or the interior, now.

save the shell and back it up somewhere

then if the updates make your interior useless or something you can simply load the shell and restart.

Where do I find the save files for BR?

I've got two copies of the ship at present. Both with interiors that are 40% complete. I left 1 brick of space between exterior walls and in between most decks. I should be able to run lines throughout the ship pretty easily. Thanks!
