Beam me up Scotty!
« on: September 22, 2011, 03:57:28 pm »
You could install Molecular Transportation Tubes (MTT) similar to Star Trek and have a range based on the amount of power going to them or something. Could also Teleport explosives into enemy ships if they didn't have their shields up.

When you teleport you start in the bridge of the craft and you can navigate to other parts of it like you are floating in it then once you are where you want to drop off at you initiate it and it will teleport to that location.

Yep, although our main transporter system is not going to be quite like Star Trek, you can still do a lot of nasty things to your foolish enemies!  ;D

Will you initiate Jump gates similar to ones from Cowboy BeeBop? So we can zoom off to far parts of space.

I am unsure what Cowboy BeeBop is but we plan on have many forms of FTL and transport. So the answer I guess would be maybe.  ;D

It is an older Anime series. They have gates that would catapult them into what I believe was hyperspace. So it would be like a nether portal without entering the nether. it could take you vast distances in short periods of time.

Now that I think of it, it is similar to what they have in Eve. Which I have never played because I have a life lol.

Ah okay, well like I said, we will have many forms of FTL. Catapulting is one of them. :)

Yes we can. But this is going to take quite a while. And by a while I mean years.

Just be careful with transporters. I would hate to see them become too prolific, à la TNG; a good balance is necessary when introducing an instantaneous transportation mechanism like that...

Or when there are scramblers.  ;D

We do have many ideas to prevent you from abusing transporting technology.

My idea of abusing transporters is using the cheap matter/energy conversion and instant targeting to a point in 3D space to simply disintegrate stuff and dump it in a simple, but still telefragging form on my enemies. Possibly using other enemies as the source matter.
