So a thing i think would make infantry combat much more interesting would be special, highly expensive helmet addons which would give you thermal, night, telescopic, x-ray, etc. vision. (But only close up to stop it from being too OP)

As a example: You are on a old, abandoned, huge flagship. There are no lights.. You know that there is a enemy somewhere, hiding. To find him, you use night vision, easily spot him and kill him.

'Twould be interesting!

Your ship's scanners will be doing most of the scanning though... maybe modders can re-purpose the scanning effect for your player. ::)

It could add a whole new stealth element to the game, so you can go full splinter cell on your enemies, stealing resources or planting bombs on their starship.

@Thrivero

We've always loved that idea, but as we get closer and closer to "gud gaemplay" we're having to make cuts to streamline the essentials of the game.  85% of your tactics for dismantling an enemy will be with the powerful capabilities of your ship, so the 15% involving boarding and sabotaging an enemy has to be developed very carefully to prevent it from being a chore or OP.

So, Splinter Cell'ing the enemy is moved to the "Would Be Nice" category until the rest of the combat tactics are honed down.

Yup, having big guns is the real deal. Stealth would be better if your ship us weak.

I'd like to toot my own horn and recall the conversation had about using a "visual overlay" system to flip through and possibly combine the types of filters your character is looking through on their HUD.
Jibreel: Yeah but [Hufer] that's like [Axis] complaining that his Toyota Camry is stuck in the mud and you responding "Well my M1 Abrams doesn't seem to be having much trouble."
