<BSG> Aristotle Class Heavy Battlestar - Flagship, Fleet Admiral Syte

Timeline: Drafted March 2013, Space Worthy March 2013, Combat Ready April 2013, Currently WIP

Spoiler
Class: Heavy Battlestar

Number in Service/Production (Approx.): 1

Notable of Class: BSG - 18 "Aristotle"

Threat Index: 9.5/10

Expense Index: 10/10

Solo Ops Rating: 10/10

Fleet Ops Rating: 10/10

History/Information:
Spoiler
The first major design sparking controversy in the fleet, The Aristotle is a collaboration between major military designers and engineers, only those known to be unquestionably loyal (yes-men) to Admiral Syte. The amount of resources spent on this ship could not be matched by any other in the SRC fleet which sparked controversy amongst a few of the civillian political groups and possibly giving birth to the first ever internal opposition moving for the abolishment of martial law and re-establishment of government within the SRC. Syte, having the twisted sense of ironic humor that he does, aptly named the ship "Aristotle." There was no expense spared on this new flagship, it not only sported every advancement in warfare that the SRC has made but left a lot of room for future improvements and designs without having to do a full overhaul. The largest Battlestar built to date, The Aristotle is extremely fast and maneuverable for it's size as well as having the same quad-hanger design as Syte's first large command, The Avidus.

Sporting an adaptive, almost organic in application hull design, The Aristotle does not have any built-in weapons. She was designed to be an adaptive ship, able to undergo a complete weapons refit in under 2 days if need be. This revolutionary design choice future-proofs this design and gives Syte an even greater presence of unpredictability. The primary load out was designed to be 12 Bow-Mounted heavy Tri-Cannons and a 360 degree full flak system.

The Aristotle carries the latest in experimental armouring systems. It features a unique "Honeycomb" design with a woven synthetic titanium alloy. The synthetic design and interwoven segments of the armouring mean that incoming projectiles have to face the full strength of the armour system at every possible attack vector and even after piercing multiple outer layers. Given the abundance of interior space required for the armouring the only limiting factor for introducing this theoretical system for the Aristotle was the increased design time and cost.

The Aristotle steps away from the standard flagship design of one major reactor and one or two auxiliary reactors. Instead of the common design Syte drafted a multitude of small yet stable electric-arc reactors. These reactors can keep critical sections of the ship in function even after sustaining massive damage.

With the multitude of reactors placed strategically around the ship there was not a large need for a concentrated FTL drive, though the lack of a "need" for an expensive core didn't prevent Syte from planting the latest advancements in faster than light jump drive technology. The current main core has a very fast jump calculation time, a very high jump range, cynosural lock-on capabilities, and complete self-sustainability. The tradeoff, other than cost to manufacture, is the need to re-prime the drive after each jump; the complex "radiator" rods in place generate a massive amount of heat that require ventilation shafts on the dorsal-side to open. This presents not so much of a vulnerability but a "buffer-time" between jumps. This buffer time is off-set by adding a completely different warp-core in a separate section of this ship with standard calculation time, fuel costs, and jump range. To this day no other ship in the SRC has two dedicated primary FTL drives.

Aside from the expensive controversy-sparking FTL system the Aristotle was designed as a Battlestar and because of which carries two flight pods both with two hangers each (two of which being inverted, much like the Avidus) for a total of 4 flight decks.

History/Information:
Spoiler
The original design of the Avidus was to act as a Flagship for the recently promoted Rear Admiral Syte and a small but expensive and heavily armed battle group (Battlestar Group 88, Storm's Reach Company). The primary design purpose was to be a smaller scaled but heavier armed and armoured Battlestar specifically designed to go toe-to-toe with Asarian forces either in a fleet, or alone. It was attacked along with a majority of the defending fleet while still under construction at Krytan Shipyards and barely escaped while the combat fleet burned.  Construction of the Avidus was finished in a deep space nebula where during the construction the Avidus and it's Civilian Fleet operated as a repair and rally point for retreating Coalition Vessels. Once word reached the Avidus of the annihilation of both sides of the conflict it became the Flagship of the remaining fleet and Rear Admiral Syte declared himself Fleet admiral, quickly following suite by declaring Martial law shortly after. What remained of BSG-88 and all of the other remnant ships from other battle groups formed under the banner of the Storm's Reach Coalition.

Solo Ops Rating: 7/10

Fleet Ops Rating: 6/10

History/Information: The Arrow Class bomber is, once again, the brainchild of Fleet Admiral Syte, designed to instil the fear that his fleet can hit any target at any time. After completely wiping out the Asarian remnant forces Syte dug through old classified archives in both Asarian and Coalition libraries. Once both concepts were melded together the Arrow Class Bomber was born. Often referred to as the "ASB" (Arrow Strategic-class Bomber) by command, the Arrow is a fearsome weapon able to deliver Nuclear Payloads to immobile targets such as planets and space stations, as well as give any capital ship's armour a run for it's money. The only major drawback in this bomber design is the monumental cost when compared to other bombers.

<SCS> Wyvern Class SUPERCARRIER - Fleet Carrier, Flagship, Rear Admiral Vaserius

Timeline: Drafted October 2012, Space Worthy December 2012, Combat Ready January 2013, Currently In WIP

Spoiler
Class: Supercarrier (2nd Generation Ship)

Number in Service/Production (Approx.): 1

Notable of Class: SCS - 01 "Wyvern"

Threat Index: 4.5/10

Expense Index: 9.5/10

Solo Ops Rating: 8/10

Fleet Ops Rating: 10/10

History/Information: After the destruction of the Asarian remnant forces Admiral Syte found the remains of the BSG - 104, Fleet Admiral Harper's Battlegroup and it's heavily damaged flagship, "Thanatos." Syte made it his top priority to set up a covert reconstruction team at the site of the battlefield to restore the "Thanatos" to combat operational status and to give it a number of reworks with current technology. He kept the existence of the project a well kept secret in his inner circle, assigning his trusted friend, Captain Thomson Lambardi to oversee the construction with his newly upgraded ship "The Pale Empress." At a gathering of the upper class personal in the fleet Syte proposed a toast while revealing a new addition to the fleet; "To our continued existence and to our enemies, however numerous, may they never see the water part before the Wyvern emerges."

The Wyvern has the largest hanger capacity of any ship in the known Storm's Reach fleet. The SRC have yet to encounter a larger ship to this date. The Wyvern sports two landing strips (one intended for larger ships), a ship maintenance bay (for quick rearm and repair), and a main hanger (often referred to as "The Belly of the Beast.") A new Battlegroup was formed headed by this new monster of a flagship.

For FTL the Wyvern sports a massive and well defended stabilized hydrogen reaction main core. This type of core is uncommon in warships as it's normally very big in size and is very unstable and hazardous if even an asteroid nudges it. Because of the stability issue the main core is stuffed behind a multitude of reinforced bulkheads and in the most defendable part of the ship. The drive core provides very long range jumps with a somewhat slow calculation time, however this is not the main feature of this special core. This core has the ability to perform a near-instant jump calculation if the targeted area has a large energy distortion nearby to "lock on" to. Because of this the Wyvern needs a support ship to "light" it a beacon at it's intended target if it wants to make a fast jump. The drawback of course is that the ship lighting the beacon must be equip with the somewhat large module to do so; because of this only specialized ships or cruisers and above can perform this task.

<CVG> Harbinger Class Cruiser

Timeline: Drafted November 2012, Space Worthy November 2012, Combat Ready December 2012, Currently In Service

Spoiler
Class: Cruiser (1st Generation)

Known Ship Names: CVG - 01 "Harbinger" CVG - 405 "Deadlock" CVG - 406 "Tombstone" (Numerous)

Information: The Harbinger Class Cruiser was another ship born after the destruction of The Coalition. One major difference with this design is the fact the Harbinger class was drawn up completely by Fleet Admiral Syte with minimal input from the SRC inner circle. Controversy surrounds the first model, "The Harbinger," as it's commanding officer; Commander Valis Fate, was promoted due to his closeness with Syte rather than his military experience. "The Harbinger" model itself is different from it's sister ships in the way it's slightly more armoured and lacks armaments on the lower bow pylon. Instead of sporting the normal weapons for a ship of this class the Harbinger has been fitted with a dedicated "Cynosural" field generator able to generate an immense amount of mass for the Wyvern's massive jump drive to preform a near-instant jump almost disregarding calculation time altogether; it also provides a superior jump range. Because of this Cynosural field generator The Harbinger has been associated with a certain quote from Captain Thomson Lambardi: "...Where the Harbinger roams; Wyvern follows."

Weaponry: Magnetic-fusion Assault Cannon (MAC) mounted on the upper bow pylon. The Harbinger class rely heavily on this main weapon to take down anything bigger than a bomber with amazing speed and accuracy. The Harbinger class also sport five dual projectile batteries on it's side for basic broadside and less-than adequate fighter screening.

Defences: Heavy armor; 2 thick in almost all locations. Kinetic barrier emitters (unable to properly calibrate due to lack of technology)

Propulsion: Two cold fusion arc-jet thrusters are quite uncommon on cruisers and are more commonly seen on Asarian Battleships to provide a quick boost. In this case, however, the Arc-jets are both heavily reliant on the main reactor to provide the power for the fusion, granting a massive increase to fuel economy but not eliminating it altogether. As the Harbinger class, especially The Harbinger itself, often work alone as well as in fleets for long periods of time they all carry equipment to mine the compressed ice required to fuel the engines as well as carry two auxiliary nuclear fusion engines that can be run completely off the reactor. The Harbinger class also carry a standard jump drive modified for a noticeable increase in jump range and a slightly higher calculation time as a trade-off.

Misc: The Harbinger class sports six hanger bays all fully capable for re-arm and repair duties as well as being large enough to carry small bombers and shuttles as well as fighters and interceptors. The Harbinger also has two docking modules which allow them to both give and receive repairs to/from other large ships. ((The Harbinger is loosely based off the Halo series UNSC Frigate))

<BSG> Victoria Class Heavy Battlestar

Timeline: Drafted February 2013, Space Worthy March 2013, Combat Ready March 2013, Currently In WIP

Spoiler
Class: Heavy Battlestar (2nd Generation)

Known Ship Names: BSG - 12 "Victoria" (Unique)

Information: With the Avidus beginning to show age in recent (now a common occurrence) first contact fights with unknown forces the Wyvern is called into more and more combat situations. This quickly drew attention to the Wyvern's one major flaw; while it has a very large flak field to repel enemies and more than an adequate amount of fighter/bomber support to engage them in open warfare it lacks the ability to unleash straight up damage. The Harbinger class and Hammerhead class are often called in to remedy this situation but both of which lack any real form of armoring to stay in the fight for long periods of time. Eventually every long engagement turned into damaged SRC combat ships making repairs behind the Wyvern's flak wall while bombers slowly pecked away at the remaining enemy ships, hardly efficient enough for the headstrong Fleet Admiral Syte. The new battleship project (code named "Leviathan") was going to slightly help the situation but not remove the problem altogether. As is tradition now with the Coalition Syte drafted up a completely new and radical design, a massive Battlestar to rival the survivability of even the Wyvern as well as matching the damage output that a fleet of Hammerheads can output. The construction process completely threw all of the old, formerly top of the line, Battlestar designs together, combining the strengths of them while using modern technology to eliminate the weaknesses into one behemoth of a flagship; The Victoria. This was the first Battlestar (a formerly obsolete design) to be constructed since the days of the Asarian wars.

Weaponry: Nine bow-mounted heavy Tri-Cannons, sixty-eight heavy linked static cannons, sixteen sleek turrets. Currently the strongest armament of any SRC ship.

Defences: Heavy plating, 6 deep in most places, double layered, and up to 16 deep in vital areas.

Propulsion:  Two Large Distortion engines, Twelve Burst-Energy thrusters. The Victoria also carries two massive linked FTL cores, they have slightly above average calculation times as well as a massive jump range. The FTL cores are Particle Collider powered which also powers the rest of the ship, as a drawback any loss of power to the FTL drives will also cause loss of power to the rest of the ship. The Victoria only carries a small auxiliary generator in a separate classified part of the ship to power crucial navigation systems in the event of a drive core failure. To combat this massive weakness the FTL cores are heavily protected from both internal sabotage and external damage. They are isolated off from the other sections of the ship and have up to 16 dual layers of heavy plating, the most anywhere on the ship. Some assume Syte spread the information of the vulnerable drive core to entice potential enemies into trying to focus down the core, the most heavily defended part of the ship.

Misc: The Victoria carries two main hanger bays, capable of housing a massive number of craft that don't carry warp cores. It also carries to auxiliary bays and an under-side upside-down hanger for quick and safe deployment as well as repairs in combat.

Stinger Class Fighter (Co-Op project with Axis48)

Spoiler
Class: Fighter

Known Ship Names: N/A (Sometimes named by pilots)

Information: The Stinger has been with the Storm's Reach Rebellion since the Asarian wars. It has always been a solid choice for commanders to rely on as it is relatively easy to fly, carries decent weaponry, and has average agility. Unlike most Storm's Reach Rebellion space craft, however, the Stinger class of fighter does not feature on board fly-by-wire systems or any Virtual Intelligence programs to assist the pilot as well as lacking any real innovation except for it's ability to be mass produced. Lower ranked pilots aspire to finally be given their wings and command of their own Stinger.

Weaponry: Two Static Cannons, both forward mounted.

Defences: The Stinger relies on it's agility for it's defense.

Propulsion:  Gyro Stabilized thrusters to provide high angular maneuvering and four main static plasma engines.

Misc: The Stinger is a very standard fighter, it needs to be based somewhere either on a station or a carrier. It's very unlike the SRR to keep small cheap mass produced ships in service but the Stinger is one of the few rare exceptions. The Civilians in the SRR fleet commonly aspire to sign on as a pilot in the Navy thanks to the Stinger's very convincing propaganda campaign.

The Stinger:

Pave Low Class Gunship/Transport

Spoiler
Class: Gunboat

Known Ship Names: (Numerous, once put in command of one the Pilot earns the right to officially assign a name and new Call Sign)

Information: The Pave Low Gunboat was designed after the Asarian war, it has two main designs; the transport variant and the upgraded combat variant. The combat variant features four extra cannons at the cost of higher power grid draw, increased signature radius, and a small sacrifice in agility. The Pave Low is very maneuverable and can easily get into hot zones for fast extraction of strike teams as well as having an optional stealth package to perform black ops assignments.

Weaponry: Four Heavy Static Cannons, all of which are wing mounted. The Combat variation also has four additional large blasters forward mounted. The upgraded stealth package requires that two Static Cannons be powered down to reduce the electromagnetic signature of the gunship and make it harder to detect.

Defences: Standard armoring backed up with decent maneuverability to avoid any large attacks that would render other ships near it's size class ash.

Propulsion:  Two main static mounted cold fusion thrusters, complemented with one tail-mounted gyroscopically tuned thruster section to provide a massive increase to overall agility.

Misc: While it does not sport an FTL drive the Pave Low has Cold Fusion engines which can run for weeks at a time without maintenance or refueling. The Pave Low can comfortably seat 8 passengers and one pilot; it has the ability to cram more people in if the need arises.

Claw Class Fighter/Gunship Hybrid

Spoiler
Class: Fighter

Known Ship Names: N/A (Sometimes named by pilots)

Information: The Claw class is a true marvel of fighter design. It embodies all the advancements the SRR have made in the past years spent on the roam and comes straight from the blueprint desk of Fleet Admiral Syte. It sports many vectored engines to provide an unmatched amount of agility to engage targets both much faster, as it will have no problem tracking them, or much larger, as it will have no problem dodging their fire. Pilots of the Claw Gunships are generally pilots who have distinguished themselves in other fighters such as the Stinger. The Claw was also designed with the latest fly-by-wire usually implemented in Corvettes but downsized at great cost to provide the pilot complete and utter control of his craft. The only drawback of the Claw in comparison to the Stinger is it's monumental increase in cost due to the more advanced weapon systems, navigational systems, the inclusion of the Virtual Intelligence Aid (VIA), and the vectored gyroscopically stabilized engines.

Weaponry: Four dual Siege Cannons and two Heavy Static Cannons.

Defences: The Claw relies completely on it's advanced systems combined with it's agility and speed to avoid incoming threats.

Propulsion:  The Claw Gunship/Fighter Hybrid lacks a main engine system like most other fighters, it carries two moderately sized Vectored Plasma engines to provide solid top speeds. The true marvel of the claw is in it's massive amount of vectored thrusters and auxiliary engines which provide on-the-dime turning and end-to-end turns in a split second.

Misc: With the amazing ability to conserve fuel while still performing heavy maneuvering the Claw has inadvertently become the tool of choice if the fight takes the SRR into an atmosphere of a planetary body. The Claw is the best handling ship in atmosphere to-date in the SRR.

Vagabond Class Assault Cruiser

Spoiler
Class: Assault Cruiser

Known Ship Names: "Athena" "Zephyr" (Numerous)

Information: The Vagabond class of assault cruiser are heavily armed cruisers who are armed to the teeth with heavy forward-mounted weaponry and large propulsion drives giving them the speed and maneuverability of a frigate. During the war with the Asarians the Vagabond used to be known as the "Stabber." They filled the same role but had much less armour and a few more weapons hard points than the current models. The Stabber was upgraded half-way through the war just as the Coalition started to turn the tide by retro-fitting it's ships to counter their Asarian counterparts, in the case of the lightly armoured Stabber much heavier plating was added to counter advancements in Asarian tracking technology removing the Stabber's ability to relay on it's evasion as a primary defence mechanism. They are numerous and expensive ships to field, but few can match the destructive power or agility of this fearsome looking vessel.

Weaponry: Numerous cannons all forward mounted, ranging from light plasma cannons to heavy projectile and torpedoes.

Defences: The Vagabond contains heavy plating around the whole ship, while it is heavy armour it still suffers from the fact the Vagabond is an agility-based ship and has very few layered sections of armour.

Propulsion: Multiple vectored plasma engines placed on the side of the hanger with reinforced couplings connecting them to the reactor. The reactor itself is a standard fission reactor with enhanced containment fields to produce maximum thrust to the plasma sub light engines when it is needed. The Vagabond also carries a standard FTL drive capable of making short to medium range (non pinpoint) jumps with an average jump calculation time. There was a revised model of the Vagabond in construction with a more expensive FTL core on board near the end of the war to provide faster disengagement time at the expense of cost and jump range but only one model ever left the production line ("Athena"), it currently remains with the Rebellion Flotilla.

Misc: The Vagabond has been fit with a small Hanger bay able to carry a few light fighters or one compact bomber for extended and long-range operations or operations where additional interceptors are required. The Vagabond was very good at escaping Asarian point defence ships after sustaining heavy-damage, such is the reason there are so many with the current Rebellion fleet as a lot of them were constantly at the repair rally point guarded by The Avidus.

Viper Class Interceptor

Spoiler
Class: Interceptor

Known Ship Names: N/A (Sometimes named by the pilots)

Information: The Viper Class interceptor was a design improved upon throughout the Asarian wars, the latest edition to the lineup is the Mk VIII version, sporting advanced electronic systems and a very impressive top speed to provide reliable point defence support and interception of bombers.

Weaponry: Four Linked Static Cannons, forward mounted.

Defences: Light Plating.

Propulsion: Two Quad-Fused Fuel-Combustion thrusters and supplemental maneuvering thrusters. The Propulsion aboard the Viper Mk VIII is second to none the Storm's Reach Rebellion has encountered thus far, it's always been able to catch it's prey, and has a very impressive kill ratio in dog-fight engagements. It, of course, doesn't sport an FTL drive so has to be stationed somewhere like most interceptors.

Misc: The Viper Mk VIII is the successor to many interceptors at the top of their class; it's learned from the mistakes of those who've come before it; currently the only ship that can hold this class of Viper remains to be The Avidus due to it's extended wingspan for maneuvering thrusters, but plans to extend docking boons for the Vagabond class are under way so that it may act as a fight-carrier in operations that call for it.

<CAG> Hammerhead Class Assault Cruiser

Spoiler
Class: Assault Cruiser (1st Generation (5th Generation under The Old Coalition))

Known Ship Names: CAG - 23 "Hammerhead" CAG - 24 "Nexus Hammer" (numerous)

Information: The Hammerhead Assault Cruiser is an outstanding Ship of the Line devised by the high command during the Asarian War. It's Heavy Plating and two thick armor layering doesn't provide for much defence compared to other cruisers but has remarkably more fire-power. Hammerheads were very rarely designed to act alone, even though they have the ability to do so. The Hammerhead carries literally no anti-fighter or bomber weapons as it's large reactor is completely devoted to giving power to the engines and the main battery. Though it's an expensive ship to field The Hammerhead Class operates extremely well in packs of other Hammerheads, as the concentrated siege fire can take down stationary installations or slow-moving capital ships ridiculously fast.

Weaponry: Multiple Heavy Beam Plasma Siege Cannons forward mounted. This provides an amazing ability for The Hammerhead Class cruiser to cut through the armour plating of nearly any ship at long range. The Hammerhead also carries twenty Nuclear Fission Cruise Missile Launchers with no reload capacity except for when docked. The Cruise Missiles give The Hammerhead a remarkable ability to finish off wounded Capital Ships or installations. Hammerheads also carry twelve torpedo launchers loaded with light anti-ship torpedoes to aid in cutting through armour.

Defences: Heavy-plating, one thick in most areas and two-thick over critical systems.

Propulsion: Dual Wing quad vectored thrusters. The quad vectored thrusters on the two wings of The Hammerhead provide very good agility at minimal speed and no speed as well as very good top speeds for an assault cruiser. The considerable drawback is the lack of agility at a reasonable speed, making the Hammerhead very bad at anti-fighter and bomber duty. As far as FTL Drives go the Hammerheads are equip with one of the best and most cost-effective, the only drawback is the core needing to have venting shafts into space for excess build up. Hammerheads have an average jump calculation speed and slightly great than average jump range. They do, however, consume a sizeable portion of fuel on a jump.

Misc: Hammerheads carry a very large and stable Fuel-Cell core. As they're not intended for long duration operations they require fuel to carry out basic operations, while not an extremely limiting factor, it does mean the Hammerheads cannot operate far from a refuelling ship or base for more than a week.

Hobgoblin Class Assault Pod

Spoiler
Class: [PROTOTYPE] Assault Pod (1st Generation)

Known Ship Names: N/A (Sometimes named by the pilots)

Information: The Hobgoblin Assault pod comes directly from the strategic mind of Fleet Admiral Syte, noticing an alarming number of hostile fleets containing Capital Ships outside of the Coalition's now-wasteland home, Syte commissioned the Hobgoblin as an anti-capital ship weapon designed to wreak havoc on designated subsystems. The actual practical use is still to this day classified but the opposing fleets left behind on the few choice battles the Avidus has deployed these pods haven't been a pretty sight.

Weaponry: Four Dual Plasma Cannons.

Defences: Light Plating, No thickness.

Propulsion: Three X Class Propulsion Thrusters, Two Regular Plasma engines.

Misc: The actual tactics employed by the Hobgoblin are a well kept secret for the moment.

Wasn't pleased with the bow design, I trimmed the Avidus' bow down to add a more menacing look to it as well as provide overall more armouring and the same amount of fire power. Also added flack barrier pictures depicting it's defensive flack barrier in action.

:  A product of the often burgeoning military complex of the SRC, the Gravelight was designed with a new type of starfighter deployment rig in mind. Unfortunately when the fighter tubes were discovered to require three times the power while only gain a slight deployment time boost; the project was scrapped, leaving the fighter with few ships to dock with. Never-the-less, the few ships able to deploy these advanced fighters are considered extremely dangerous, due to the rapid deployment and heavy armament of this sleek and quick starcraft.

Spoiler
Class:  Corvette

Known Ship Names:  Dragon’s Eye, Sir Greggor, Perchance

Information
:  Produced amongst a series of other corvettes, the Horace came with the dream of light, FTL capable ships that were able to perform actions at range, where the use of a capitol ship was deemed inefficient or risky. Project Wyvern; Supercarrier with full interior
« Reply #8 on: September 20, 2012, 01:28:34 am »
So a while ago I took it upon myself to recreate the Wyvern class Supercarrier from EVE: Online (I'm so close to the flying one decently) as the figurehead ship for my faction, the Storm's Reach Rebellion. Not anywhere near combat ready and the interior is still a <WIP> as well as a lot of the exterior bits and pieces. Need to also wait for the addition of shields as the Wyvern is very reliant on them for defence.

It has a massive hanger bay for carrying anything up to a light cruiser designed to fit. It can carry a really high number of fighters, interceptors, and bombers which all have had space left open for their respective Battlestar: Galactica styled launch tubes for fast deployment. No main weapons to speak of next to a bow-mounted nuclear missile launcher at the top of the ship but the entire hull will soon be lined with flak cannons ready to shoot down any ship that dares get too close while it's assault wings hit from a safe distance.
