Indistech Collective
« on: July 03, 2012, 06:17:56 am »
(I am currently looking for a digital artist who is willing to help me with the banners and sigil for the Collective.  If interested, feel free to PM me.)

The Indistech (Independant Isolationist Technological) Collective represents a nominal, technological theocracy that sponsors and collaborates with any group who believes in technological advancement beyond moral or ethical bonds (within safety limits, of course) for the greater good of all individuals.

GOALS

The primary goals of the Indistech Collective are:

  • To provide the basis for scientific advancement beyond the bounds of corporate or political interest.
  • To provide free measure for any individual or family that supports the Collective.
  • To provide free measure for any individual or family that supports the Collective.
To uphold the standard for in-faction relations to the trade of knowledge and information, instead of currency or resources.

As such, every individual from miner, to machinist, to laboratory technician, can enjoy the same lifestyle privileges as every other member of the Collective.

Motto

"In Isolation, Knowledge. In Knowledge, Power. In Power, Security for All."

FACTION INFO

As a majorly isolationist faction, Indistech tends to stay under the radar of any foreign or corporate interest, instead relying heavily upon self-sustainability and in-faction mining, resource management and manufacturing.  Most trades involving foreign entities are done either incognito, or through highly trusted delegation, thus having little foreign oversight and are therefore not subject to taxes or bans within controlled space.

Most resources and equipment within the Collective are available upon request for Collective personnel, pending approval via individual review of past work and project results.  Common resources and amenities come free of charge for all Collective personnel and thus there is no standing of real estate or property within the Collective hierarchy beyond the privileges of position.  Everyone is guaranteed food, water and housing as a minimum.

The Collective is managed by a co-conglomerate that combines a civil Council with a hereditary position called the Progenitor.  The Council oversees the day-to-day operation of the Collective, and is chaired with some of the oldest or most prestigious individuals within the faction.  The Progenitor oversees the expansion, acquisition and any policing or investigative group within the Collective, together with any military action that is forced to take place.

Given far-reaching or internal disputes, the Council and the Progenitor come together in a combined council to settle the dispute.  Anyone caught in opposition of the Collective, or convicted of high crimes, is to be expelled immediately following procedures to secure the individuals private property and any information regarding the Collective.  Indistech does NOT condone capital punishment.

FACTION MECHANICS

The layout of the Collection is simple, based upon an open-ended caste system.  Individuals with specific skills or wants can be moved from one caste to the other, given approval by the Council. The Castes exist as follows:

  • The Resources Caste is based upon those who have the skills to operate mining, freight, or managerial positions.  They're separated into groups given their job positions, and are overseen by the Collective Management Group, which answers to the Council. These positions also include technicians that provide the air, water, agricultural products and artificial gravity and data management for all the other castes. This caste also is home to those whose professions deal with the crafting of material objects, as well as artistic and recreational enjoyment.
  • The Research Caste is for those whose sole duties involve the research of new technologies, as well as adapting techniques to use existing technologies in improved or more efficient ways.  Laboratory technicians and various doctors, medical and research personnel fall into this caste, along with both digital and material designers. This caste answers to the Council, unless a major breakthrough, or destruction of Collective property is brought forth, resulting in a ruling by the combined council.
  • The Spacer Caste values those with a penchance for space flight, navigational skills, and policing and investigation.  This caste includes most social services, from damage control officers to policemen, Collective patrols and those few who specialize in warrior training and combat tactics.  This caste tends to answer only to the Progenitor, and hold higher levels of trainer and standards than the other castes.  Given any large military engagement, members of other castes may be requested into the Spacer caste to fill the ranks quickly.
  • The Council is chosen by popular vote, with the approval of the Progenitor, and can be from any caste or primary standing within the Collective, given valuable duty or assistance to the Collective as a whole.  Many Council members retain their status in their previous caste, and while not official representatives of their caste, many hold to the traditions and training they have, and thus push for policies that can help their caste.

Military and Technology

The Collective values high technology above all else, which results in more efficient systems both in combat and outside of it.  Their main goal in this is to provide a higher standard of living for all Collective personnel, whilst still upholding individual freedoms and liberties within Collective society.

Collective ships, though, are based upon the principles of modular building and customization; while specializing in larger power production and shielding technologies.  Generally lightly armored, the average power core size is 2 - 5 times larger than normal, while engines tend to be a bit bigger than average, as well.  This allows many Collective ships to have several interchangeable roles, instead of being fixed into a singular position.

Most Collective ships are built to be both sleek and powerful and while weapons technologies are not a priority, data acquisition and information control often provides valuable assets to military engagements. State-of-the-art shield technologies have credited the nickname of 'shielded fortresses' for many of the Collective's ships of the line.   Most Collective vessels tend to be smaller though, opting for speed and maneuverability with missiles and torpedoes instead of lasers or mass-driver weaponry.

Efficient use of space management and efficient recycling technologies in Collective vessels also mean they tend to need refueling and restocking less often, with most ships (hopefully) meeting standards of upward to 12 - 15% reusability for shipboard components and resources.

Recruitment

The Collective is looking for talented people who are displeased with the way things are run in the rest of known space.   Individuals who often have ideas and ideals that run counter-intuitive to the rest of mainstream life, rather in space or on governed world.   Sadly, the isolationist agenda within the Collective means that only a handful of new people at a time are brought in and those that are are often extensively background checked and both physically and mentally scanned for viability within the new hierarchy.

Given our level of progression with technology, though, every single individual is considered and reviewed to the best of our abilities, and once approved may start their new duties post-haste.  No one is left out on the streets, figuratively or literally, once they've become a part of the extended family of the Collective.

Currently, most major roles are accepting applicants, and new information will be released as interest grows for the Collective.

Faction Relations

Spoiler
As clandestine as the Collective tends to be since it operates outside of the overview of any government or major policy, relationships with other groups tend to be negligable at best, with only the most trusted of allies gaining access to valuable trade and information/technologies that are offered by the Collective.

The Progenitor accepts the 'no BS pact' as proposed by Titanrex on behalf of the Revenant Task Force.

Xavier Industries would like to propose a similar pact, if the Collective would accept.
Meh.

Since the Matrix has yet to respond to the quiery of acting as the third party communicator, the Progenitor has accepted Xavier Industries Non-Aggression and Interference Pact on behalf of the Collective.
