My Idea of Multiplayer-Versus-Campaign!

 Hey, I recently started playing BR and I would like to use the newly implemented Multiplayer for having "orchestrated", sort-of
 Campaigns.
 
 I imagine it to have two or three Factions, each with a small outpost in the imaginary "Cluster" and each faction can decide to
 attack another one, or fight for some Mines. Now, before I do anything else, let me introduce the smaller Ships of each faction.

 So thats that, now let's head on to the actual Gameplay:

So since I can only draw horrible nightmares and creations of evil whenever I take a pen into my hands, I will simply use
 letters.

So that is what the Map for the Campaign would at about look like.
Every Faction would have 5-8 Players inside it and a Faction leader will be determined/selected. From then on,
the Faction leaders can set a time and date for an attack on a specific target, with the asteroids obviously being the first.
When a Faction attacks a target, it simply has to wait wether or not the Enemy Faction holding the territory will try to defend
it. Of course, the time of attack has to be announced at a reasonable amount of time before said event ( minimum is 24 hours).
When a faction wants to engage a Mine or Asteroid Field, they have to have the Manpower to support a Convoy of one Freighter (Building materials) and atleast two Escorts. They have to guide the freighter to a free Asteroid in the System and
keep it safe for five Minutes. Then, the System is taken over and I will edit this map to match the current state of events.

Now, Mines need a purpose, dont they? Of course they do.
So I came up with this simple idea: Every Mine delivers 3 Cargobays full of Materials. These are needed to build more advanced Ships, after all, you can't attack an Outpost in Fighters only. The Faction leader can determine the Ships he wants
to take part by counting his Mines, multiplying the amount by 3 to get the Material amounts he has at disposal and then
declare which ships should be allowed to spawn (one-time use only!) in the next attack. The price list follows:

   Fighters: Infinite.
   Bombers: 1 Material/2 Units
   Corvettes: 2 Materials/Unit
   Frigate (to be built and implemented): 4 Materials/Unit
   ???  TBA
   ???  TBA
   ???  TBA

 



 Now, before I go on and talk about this more and really get my head full of the ideas and work em out, i'd like to know wether
 someone actually would want that to happen.
 Thing is, we would atleast need ten people ready to choose a faction and then I would require a server owner and someone
 who is good with capturing space battles on camera, or recording in general ( I will contact Stuff+ and see wether or not
 he would be interested. )

 Current Status
 So,  the poll got 9 votes already, and therefore I will simply begin asking who wants which faction. As we need at least
 5 players per faction, I will ( for now ) use the Red and Blue only.
 The factions in detail and now with a generic name:

The Coalition
 The Coalition is the youngest and most ambigious of the factions. They are an alliance of several mercenary groups and
 corporations, aswell as some opposionistic and liberalistic militias. Their ships are Colored in Red and Black, with focus
 on maneuverability and speed, which does cost them in terms of weaponry and armor.
 If you want freedom, liberty and equality, come under the red wing of revolution.

 The Republic of the Seven Planets
 Despite calling itself a Republic and the existence of elections, the current leadership has been in power since the Republic
 was founded, reaching up to 90% of the votes and more. Because of this, some minor uprisings have happened and now
 the leadership decided to take action. The ships of the republic are the toughest, with even the fighters
 armored with two layers of plating. Their ships are colored in Blue and white and tend to be a bit sluggish, but certainly live
 the longest.
 If you find strength in unity and order, the Seven Planets will watch over you.

it seems like a good idea, you might want to flesh it out abit though, also the images are broken

shouldn't this go in standard multiplayer instead of roleplay?
and from what i understand, battle servers of various scales are planned, and multiplayer itself is a free roaming infinite galaxy style thingy. so "campaigns" will be say, me fighting the ISO.

Update: Made some new ship drafts to expand the fleets, finished one frigate.

 Elijahpederson has given me full permission to use his 30 slot server for the battles.

I agree with Xavier. If MP was just single-player with people, it would be very repetivie and linear for me.
I'd prefer a minecraft-style free sandbox multiplayer.

From what I understand, there are 2 multiplayer setups - combat-style servers, and infinite-exploration (the same as single player, but with more players; like MC multiplayer). This sounds like it would be a longer setup for a combat server.
But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting into an infinite pattern. Yours to manipulate, to create and rebuild.

not to say this isn't a good idea. i would love to play a battle server with several planets and capture the flag, or base deathmatch or whatever.

I'd hope for such a thing to happen in the game. I whould like to play some RPG in this game, to bad you can't custom build maps and add them to the game as deafult maps on server  :'( .

 Well, my intention is to use this as a way of getting fun gameplay in the early stages where you dont have any bots or
 any kind of gameplay mechanics added.

 I'll be posting some pics of the current range of ships for each faction as soon as I get some polishing on the Red and Blue 
 Frigate done!

 *edit* Quit update: Apparentally a ship file can get corrupted when BR crashes in the Editor... I lost the Blue Frigate and the
 Red one is nothing but skeleton after a major setback. Back to the drawing board. ( I hope they get a fix out for that soon -.-)
