Today's Progress!

It was time for another five player run of multiplayer after compression and the new destruction system was fired up!Watch the video below to see it in action!

Busting each other's ships up and quick running back to the editor to design all-new ones was a lot of fun; ultimately we had to be torn away just to get this update up!







We've still got to get some of the niceties together (the aforementioned Chat, etc), but things are looking good for a multiplayer release soon (Sunday night EST is the target)!

A New Vote

We're going to wait until the multiplayer's out before doing a new vote, this time focusing on multiplayer-centric items.I'd be willing to bet framerate improvement will still be near the top, as several Starbreakers can slow down an older machine pretty good!

Haha! Its still may 4th where i live...... I see the future.  :P Also i cant wait for the multi player.

Actually, you were about 25 minutes into the 5th ;)

So what is it, exactly, that you expect me to from now until Sunday now that I've seen this? I can't wait that long! I can't just sit down and play Mount & Blade for hours on end!

Oh wait, I can totally do that.

In other news, I think pretty soon after we get multiplayer, we're going to need an important, explodey thing. Basically, we need a place holder that we can destroy that would render a ship "dead", otherwise we're just going to have situations like in the end of the video:

"Um, ok...yea...I think you got me. I am now piloting a debris field. Please stop shooting now!"

I'm with bladecatcher, we're gonna need a "ship destroyed" system soon I think.

Anyway, I hope you guys realize that you've just taken a step towards being one of the most badass games ever created.

i've got two questions:

1. when you say "running back to the editor to design all-new ones" how do you get the ships ingame?

2. how will collision work? will i be able to have a large ship with hanger bays that i can fly fighters into, or will you still have it so that you bounce off if you get too close?

Anybody notice the near collision of ships at 25 seconds into the video?
I don't want to go "Oh! there's shots going my way! No big deal I'm the U.S.S Bloody Massive, It won't even leave a scratch." *boom* "SHIT! BIG DEAL! HUGE DEAL!"

However...I'm hoping the flight system gets an overhaul...the ship movement in the video just seems off....I mean...that Corellian Corvette replica...they are fairly large, yet it was turning as quickly as if it were a fighter...?

It does have a lot of engines far from it's centre of mass...

You can load any ship into the game.

The collision code is something that will be completely redone.

You can load any ship into the game.

The collision code is something that will be completely redone.

How about the controls? :) And have you tried loading the bigger ships (Perseus, Thunderbolt, etc) into MP?
